If you’ve spent any time in the world of CS2 skins whether you buy and sell skins or are just a casual gamer, you’ve probably heard the term “float value” thrown around. But what exactly is a float value, and why does it matter? This is a brief introduction to float values presented to you by HaloSkins.com.

WHAT IS A CS2 SKIN FLOAT VALUE?

In CS2, float value refers to a fixed and permanent number assigned to each weapon skin, ranging from 0
to 1, which represents the wear and condition of the skin. The lower the float value, the better the
skin condition, with 0 being the lowest value and 1 being the highest.

      DETERMINING SKIN CONDITION

There are currently 5 skin classifications based on their float values:

Factory New from 0.00 to 0.07

Minimal Wear from 0.07 to 0.15

Field Tested from 0.15 to 0.37

Well Worn from 0.37 to 0.45

      Battle Scarred starting from 0.45

Where a lower float value indicates a skin closer to pristine and clean-looking Factory New
condition, while a higher float value corresponds to an older, used, and literally battle-scarred
appearance. The float value directly correlates to these visual changes, providing a tangible measure of
      a skin’s condition.

      Trading and Skin Values:

Float values are fundamental when it comes to trading skins. Skins with lower float values are
generally more desirable and valuable in the CS2 skin market. Collectors and traders often seek skins
with minimal wear to maintain their inventory’s aesthetic appeal and rarity.

But does it mean the lower the float value the higher the price? Seasoned traders would know that this isn’t the case. Some people prefer higher float values and some even collect rare extremely battle-scarred
skins. This may be due to their rarity or the aesthetic value that it provides to the gun. For example,
some people might want a high-float karambit rust coat as it is better than lower lower-float one.

      How to Check Float Values:

At HaloSkins we have a built-in float value checker for every skin in the game, just head over to the skin
